Discover The West Coast

The west and north are the warmest and driest coasts of Mauritius, which makes the west a comfortable choice in winter. The long beach of Flic en Flac runs on to Wolmar, where Sofitel L'Impérial, Hilton Mauritius, Maradiva Villas and Sugar Beach sit side by side.

Every evening the sun sets straight into the ocean, and people gather on the sand to watch. Further south lies Tamarin Bay, backed by volcanic peaks. Boats leave from here for the deep water where sperm whales live all year, and humpbacks pass between July and October.

The west suits families and anyone drawn to the sea. Black River Gorges and Chamarel are close, and Le Morne is an easy drive south.
