Discover The East Coast
The east coast faces the trade wind, which takes the edge off the summer heat. It has the island's longest and quietest beaches, from Poste de Flacq and Belle Mare to Trou d'Eau Douce, and some of its finest resorts: One&Only Le Saint Géran on its own peninsula, Constance Prince Maurice, Long Beach and Shangri-La Le Touessrok.
From the village of Trou d'Eau Douce, boats cross to Île aux Cerfs, a privately owned, uninhabited island of sandbanks and shallow water with its own golf course. On the way they usually stop at the Grand River South East waterfall, where the river meets the sea.
The east suits couples and families who want quiet and space, or the privacy of a villa on the water such as Villa Saphir. In the winter months the wind can be strong and evenings cool, so we match the resort and the room to the season.
