About The Maldives

In the heart of the Indian Ocean, where nature meets boundless privacy, lie the Maldives: 1,192 coral islands in a double chain of 26 atolls, stretching some 871 km from north to south. All the land together comes to 298 square kilometres, and its average height above the sea is 1.5 metres. It is the lowest-lying country in the world, and the ocean is part of every view.

The Maldives is not simply a trip. It is a story written to your taste, beginning with you and ending with your satisfaction. From villas set over the lagoon to the coral reefs thriving beneath them, each resort occupies an island of its own, so seclusion is part of the design rather than an extra.

It is also a Muslim country. Sunni Islam is the state religion, Dhivehi the language, and English is spoken in every resort. The clocks run two hours ahead of Riyadh, the temperature stays close to 30°C all year, and direct flights from Riyadh take about five hours.

We choose the atoll before the resort: Baa, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, for its manta rays; Ari for the whale sharks that live there all year; the Fari Islands and the Malé atolls when you would rather arrive by speedboat in under an hour; Laamu and the far atolls when you want real quiet. Then we arrange every detail, from the seaplane to dinner on the sand.

Maldivian cooking comes from the sea and the coconut palm: skipjack tuna, fresh or smoked and dried, coconut grated, pressed into milk or used as oil, with rice and roshi, a thin flatbread. The heat is gentle, and it is the cooking of a Muslim country, with fish at its heart. Ask, and we will arrange a Maldivian breakfast or a cooking class at your resort.

Questions

Before you go

Do I need a visa for the Maldives?
Saudi citizens do not need a visa in advance: a free 30-day tourist visa is granted on arrival, as for most nationalities. The conditions are a machine-readable passport valid for at least one month, a confirmed return ticket, a prepaid, confirmed booking at a registered property and enough funds for the stay. Every traveller, children included, must file the online IMUGA traveller declaration within 96 hours before arrival, and each child needs their own passport. This is correct at the time of writing; we confirm before you book.
What is the best time to visit the Maldives?
The best period is November to April, and the driest is December to April, with the north-east monsoon: warm, sunny weather and clear water, ideal for swimming, diving and boat trips. From June to November the south-west monsoon brings rain and some wind, but it is also the manta season in Baa Atoll. The temperature stays close to 30°C all year.
How do I get to the Maldives, and then to my island?
The direct flight from Riyadh to Velana International Airport in Malé takes about 5 hours: flynas has flown it three times a week since June 2026, Saudia flies direct from Jeddah, and we suggest the best one-stop alternative when needed. On arrival we arrange a speedboat to resorts in the Malé atolls, or a seaplane or domestic flight to the farther atolls. Seaplanes fly only in daylight, so for an evening arrival we book a night near the airport. Our team handles every detail from the moment you land.
Should I book an overwater villa or a beach villa?
Overwater villas give you something unique: you step from your deck straight into the sea, with views that never repeat. Beach villas are ideal for privacy: you open the door onto white sand, and they often suit families with young children better. Many guests combine both in one journey.
Are there activities for families and children?
Yes. Most luxury resorts have kids' clubs and recreational and educational programmes, such as Kuda Mas at Four Seasons Kuda Huraa and Little Griffins at JW Marriott, along with boat trips for families. Some resorts, such as Anantara Veli, are for adults only, which we take into account. For larger families we arrange neighbouring villas or multi-bedroom residences.
Is the food halal, and what about prayer?
The Maldives is a Muslim country, and the law forbids pork, alcohol and non-halal food on inhabited islands. Resorts operate under special licences; most offer halal food and menus suited to Arab tastes, and we arrange fully halal menus in advance as you wish. The country has about 725 mosques, including the Old Friday Mosque and the King Salman Mosque in Malé, and we ask the resort to place a prayer mat and the qibla direction in your villa.
Can a family count on privacy?
Each resort occupies its own island, and many villas have a private pool and a secluded beach, which makes the Maldives well suited to families and women travelling. We request villas at the quiet edges of the resort and can arrange the beach, the spa and meals privately. For complete privacy there are private islands and residences booked in full, such as Ithaafushi Private Island at Waldorf Astoria.
Is the Maldives suitable for a honeymoon?
It is one of the finest honeymoon destinations in the world, for its privacy, its romantic setting, private dinners on the beach and on sandbanks, and sunset trips by traditional boat.
Can I request special services or a celebration?
Yes. We organise a birthday, an anniversary or any other occasion as an experience designed for you alone, from flowers and lighting to a private dinner on the sand.
What is the ideal length of stay?
Four to seven nights is enough to enjoy the luxury and the activities without hurry, though many guests stay two weeks for complete rest, or to combine two resorts in different atolls.
