Discover Marina Bay

Marina Bay is the Singapore of the photographs: a calm bay ringed by towers, and on its eastern side Marina Bay Sands, three towers joined by a SkyPark 340 metres long and 200 metres up. The resort opened in 2010; around it are The Shoppes, with more than 270 shops and restaurants, and the ArtScience Museum with its ten white fingers.

Behind it lies Gardens by the Bay, more than 100 hectares of gardens on the waterfront, with two glass conservatories and Supertrees from 25 to 50 metres tall. In the evening the waterfront becomes a stage: Spectra, a light and water show in front of the resort, runs at 8 pm and 9 pm, with a third show at 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Both shows are free.

The curving Helix Bridge links Marina Bay Sands with Marina Centre, home of Pan Pacific Singapore. A long promenade circles the bay past Merlion Park. Each October the Singapore Grand Prix is raced here, the first night race in Formula 1 history.

Staying on Marina Bay puts most of what visitors come for within walking distance, with the water and the skyline outside your window. Keep one whole evening for the bay: sunset from the observation deck, then the gardens after dark.
