Turtles and Seagrass in Laamu
About two hours
All year
Most resorts clear the seagrass from their lagoons; Six Senses Laamu pledged to protect it, and it became a grazing ground for green turtles, of which its scientists have identified nearly 400 around the atoll. You go out with the scientists of the Maldives Underwater Initiative and learn how they recognise each turtle by the pattern on its face.
It is a calm outing in shallow water that suits families, and introduces children to the sea through science and care.
