Husky sled rides across the white plains
Half a day
December to March
The sled sets off on a 10 to 12 km trail through snowy forest and fields in Karelia, after a short briefing on handling it. You ride as a passenger or learn to drive the team yourself, then meet the dogs and take your photographs: the spirit of the Russian north, and the polar landscape at its most absorbing.
If your time is in Moscow, farms in the countryside offer shorter rides where children travel as passengers and the family meets the dogs first.
Good to know
- The longer Karelian trails suit children from about 12
- Shorter rides near Moscow suit younger children
- Snowmobile drivers must be 18 or over
