Stay in a wooden cabin amid the snow
2 to 3 nights
December to March
This is the Russian winter at its quietest: a wooden cabin among birch and pine, a fire lit inside and snow falling beyond the windows. The days follow the short light, with forest walks, snowmobile rides over frozen lakes and a banya before dinner.
We choose cabins with private bathrooms, proper heating and food cooked to your requirements, and pair them with a husky outing where the lodge keeps its own dogs.
Good to know
- Karelia is an overnight train ride from Moscow
- Temperatures fall well below zero; we send you a winter clothing list
- We favour lodges with a private banya
