About 60 km from Chiang Mai is Elephant Nature Park, a sanctuary founded in 1998 to rescue elephants that had worked in logging and tourism. There is no riding and there are no shows: you watch the herd move through the valley and help to feed and care for it. It suits families particularly well, and shows children elephants as they should be seen.
