The experience
The Saadiyat Cultural District was announced in 2006. Some twenty years on, most of it stands complete, and one island now holds what other cities spread across many journeys.
Begin at Louvre Abu Dhabi, designed by Jean Nouvel and opened in November 2017. Beneath its 180 m dome, light falls through some 8,000 metal stars like a rain of light. Then go on to the Zayed National Museum, opened on 3 December 2025 to a design by Norman Foster, its five steel wings drawn from a falcon's feathers. Six permanent galleries tell the story of this land and its people over 300,000 years, and the story of Sheikh Zayed.
With children, do not miss the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, opened on 22 November 2025, a journey through 13.8 billion years, from a complete Tyrannosaurus rex to a 25 m blue whale. Nearby is teamLab Phenomena, an immersive art space opened in April 2025.
Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, the last major work of Frank Gehry, is scheduled to open on 11 December 2026, with 30 galleries of modern and contemporary art. We arrange a private guide who chooses what suits your interests, timed tickets, and lunch on Saadiyat beach between one museum and the next.
