Garuda Wisnu Kencana
The statue stands 121 m high, 75 m for the figure itself on a 46 m base, and was designed by the Indonesian sculptor Nyoman Nuarta. It took 28 years, from groundbreaking in 1997 through a long pause after the Asian financial crisis, to its inauguration on 22 September 2018.
It stands in the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park between Jimbaran and Uluwatu, with wide plazas set among walls of cut limestone. It makes a good family stop on the way to an evening at Uluwatu.
