Uluwatu Temple
Pura Luhur Uluwatu
Uluwatu means the edge of the rock, and the temple stands on the edge of a 70 m cliff at Pecatu. The sage Mpu Kuturan enlarged it in the 11th century and it is linked to the sage Nirartha in the 16th; it is the only sea temple among the island's directional temples.
Its macaques are famous for taking belongings, and the Kecak is performed every day around 6 pm at sunset. We include it in an Uluwatu evening with a private guide.
