The mosque has 82 domes, the largest above the main prayer hall, which holds more than 7,000 worshippers and the world's largest hand-knotted carpet, made by more than 1,200 people over about two years. Its inlaid columns with gilded palm capitals are worth seeing in daylight and again after dusk.

It is open to visitors from Saturday to Thursday, 9 am to 10 pm, and on Friday from 4.30 pm; modest dress is required.
