Nasi goreng

The country's most famous fried rice and one of Indonesia's five national dishes. The rice is fried with sweet soy sauce, kecap manis, and spices, which give it a golden colour and a light smoky flavour; it is made with chicken or prawns and served with a fried egg, krupuk crackers, pickles and a spicy sauce. It is on every menu on the island, and we ask for it with halal ingredients.

Halal dining can be arranged at every hotel we recommend; tell us your preferences and we brief the chefs before you arrive.
