Fish sate lilit
Sate lilit ikan
Instead of the threaded skewers of classic satay, sate lilit is a minced mixture wrapped around wide sticks of bamboo or lemongrass; lilit means to wrap around in Indonesian. Minced fish is mixed with grated coconut, coconut milk and the Balinese spice paste, then grilled over charcoal. Coastal fishing villages are known for the fish version; some Balinese versions use pork, so we make sure yours is fish or chicken.
