A flight over Le Morne and the underwater waterfall
A helicopter flight over the Le Morne peninsula to see the underwater waterfall, which can only be seen from the air. Mountain, lagoon and ocean in one view.

The experience
Off the south-west coast of Mauritius, seen from above, a vast waterfall seems to pour into the depths of the ocean. It is an illusion. The island stands on a rocky shelf that drops suddenly to great depth, and strong currents sweep pale sand over the edge, so it looks like falling water.
You cannot see it from the beach, and barely from the summit of Le Morne; you have to fly. We book a private helicopter from a helipad near your resort or in the south, over the Le Morne lagoon and the UNESCO-listed mountain, then over the illusion itself.
Flights last from a quarter of an hour to about an hour, depending on where you take off and the route you choose, and can take in Chamarel and the south coast. A simpler alternative is a small seaplane from La Prairie beach in the south, which carries one passenger at a time.
The best time to fly is a clear morning, when the light is cleanest and the wind lightest. We confirm the booking before you travel and reschedule if the weather does not allow it.
