Modern grandeur with an Asian touch
LOTTE HOTEL MOSCOW is a five-star hotel on Novinsky Boulevard in the centre of the capital. It opened in 2010 and has 300 rooms and suites, two restaurants, OVO for Italian and MEGUMI for modern Japanese, and The Lounge.
There is a conference hall for every kind of event, an executive club floor, the Mandara Spa with its Balinese treatments, a modern gym, an indoor pool and a three-level underground car park.
Regal detail
The hotel sets out to be both regal and homely, mixing classic and contemporary design with touches of traditional Russian art. More than 25 kinds of marble cover 40,000 m², seven natural woods another 4,000 m², with gold leaf and Swarovski crystal throughout.
In the lobby, columns of rare Portoro marble frame a four-metre chandelier made by hand in clear glass and amber by Preciosa of the Czech Republic, above a marble table holding a miniature of the chandelier itself.
The Atrium artwork
On the fourth floor, a mural of 312 m², between 2 and 4 metres high, took ten artists six weeks and five kilograms of acrylic paint. It shows the arms of Russia's provinces, principalities and kingdoms of the 17th and 18th centuries, designed by the Russian artist Yevgeny Maximov, who says the language of Russian heraldry is a long history and a rich culture: not just emblems, but stories told to Moscow's guests.
The Royal Suite
The Royal Suite pairs dark grey and gold in its reception rooms with gold and red in the private rooms, over floors of several woods and British Brintons carpet, with rare New St Laurent, Portoro and Rosso Levanto marble, hand-made crystal candelabra and carved furniture.
